Tidworth Leisure Centre is not "currently" available for walk-in Covid jabs, the council has warned.

Wiltshire Council says that the site, which has previously been used as a vaccination centre, is not offering walk-in appointments.

The centre has previously been used for first and second doses of the vaccine, first in January and then for one day in July.

he council says that booster vaccinations should be booked for Salisbury City Hall, which is not being advertised as a walk-in clinic.

After hundreds of people turned up at Salisbury City Hall without making an appointment, Fiona Hyett, operational director for the Salisbury vaccination hub, urged the public to "book, book, book".

Booked appointments, rather than walk-ins, will prevent "overwhelming" NHS staff and volunteers, she said.

“We want to make sure we maximise every bit of capacity to enable as many people to be booked as soon as possible so we need everyone to be patient, because they will get their turn."

On Sunday (December 12), the government announced that everyone in England over the age of 18 will be offered a Covid booster by the end of the year, after concerns of a so called "tidal wave" of the new variant Omicron.
