A DRIVER has been arrested after a pedestrian was left with a broken leg and a head injury.

Police were called to Charlotte Place, near Jury's Inn Roundabout in Southampton, at around 2.15am this morning (December 5).

A 19-year-old from Ampfield was hit by a car after stepping into the road.

He was left with a broken leg, cuts and bruises and a head injury and is in Southampton General Hospital being treated for his injuries.

The car involved was a grey Mazda MX5 being driven by a 19-year-old man.

He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a drug, but has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
