LOCALiQ, the digital marketing business of Newsquest, the publishers of the Basingstoke Gazette, was delighted to sponsor the Excellence in Digital Technology Award at the Inspire Business Awards 2021.

The accolade was presented to RazorSecure, a company specialising in cyber security, particularly in the rail sector.

Reacting to the news, Lewis Oaten, Chief Technology Officer, said: “I really wasn’t expecting it. We saw the competition, they are excellent.”

The firm fought off fellow finalists Festival Place and Cevitr to claim the top spot.

Founded in 2015 by CEO Alex Cowan, RazorSecure provides intrusion detection cybersecurity software products to the rail industry.

Throughout the pandemic, it has found itself impacted far less than other industries, due to the transport sector continuing to operate throughout.

“We are growing, and off the back of this we hope to grow more and help attract technological people to Basingstoke,” said Lewis.

Later in the evening, Basing View based RazorSecure was further crowned the Winner of Winners, with an award sponsored by menzies.

The recipient is selected by the judges as “the most inspirational winner from the elite group of businesses that have already won an award”.

Melanie Redding, chair of the board, added: “We’re a global company, but it’s lovely to do this in the area where we have our roots. It’s really special.”
