STAFF at a hospital in Basingstoke have been recognised for the vital work they did to deliver lifesaving treatment to cancer patients during the pandemic.

Hampshire Clinic in Basingstoke staff have won the ‘Hospital Group’ award for the work clinical teams at the hospital did to support colleagues in local NHS Trusts deliver urgent care to patients during the pandemic.

Circle Health Group, owners of the Hampshire Clinic, received the award in a ceremony held in London.

During the pandemic, staff at the Hampshire Clinic partnered with colleagues in the local NHS Trusts across Hampshire to provide urgent cancer surgeries to critically ill patients.

In total, clinical teams at the Hampshire Clinic delivered over 5,000 treatments and saw over 14,000 patients.

A spokesperson for the hospital said: “This was made possible because of the skill, devotion, and dedication of hospital staff to rise to the challenges brought on by the pandemic.

“At the heart of the Hampshire Clinic approach to the delivery of care is commitment to the people of Basingstoke. The award further recognised the transformation of the Hampshire Clinic’s range of activities, from expanding their role in the community through charity partnerships and the arrival of brand-new technology to enhances the services offered at the hospital.”

Martin Page, executive director at the Hampshire Clinic, said: “We are extremely proud of the teams at the Hampshire Clinic for all their hard work through what has been the most challenging of times for healthcare services.

“From our patient facing staff, through to our administration team, porters, catering teams and housekeepers, everybody pulled together to support those in our community who were in urgent need of care.

“Working alongside our colleagues in local NHS trust hospitals was a privilege, and the care we assisted them in delivering for urgent cancer and cardiac services would not have been possible without the dedication of our staff. Winning an accolade like this is testament to the commitment of all our teams across the hospital.”
