A DRIVER died after a tree fell on his car during a 'windy evening' in Basingstoke, an inquest opening has heard.

Mohammad Reza Mirza-Ghaderi, 68 and of Pack Lane, Basingstoke, was said to be “in the wrong place and the wrong time” when a large tree fell from the nearside and landed on his vehicle causing fatal injuries.

The incident occurred on the A33 at Sherfield-on-Loddon on October 19, this year.

An inquest has been opened into his death by area coroner Rosamund Rhodes-Kemp at Winchester Coroner’s Court.

A post mortem has been carried out by pathologist Dr Benita Foria but no cause of death was given as results of toxicology tests are awaited.

Ms Rhodes-Kemp adjourned the hearing for a full inquest to take place on June 6, next year.
