Covid rates are decreasing in all eleven districts of Hampshire, and Basingstoke and Deane has the lowest number of cases per 100,000 people in the county.

That is according to the latest government data, which reveals that another 722 Covid cases were confirmed in the borough in the week to November 3.

However, this was more than 25 per cent down on the previous week.

Cases remain high in many areas, with nine areas having a case rate of 400 or above.

The interactive map on the government website shows just how many people have tested positive for the virus in each area of the county over the seven-day period.

The government breaks down the numbers of coronavirus cases into neighbourhoods called 'Middle Super Output Areas' (MSOAs), which are smaller than council wards and based on population rather than geographical area.

The interactive map allows users to type in their postcode and see how many cases were reported in their area and if it has increased or decreased from the week before. The darker the colour on the image, the more positive test results have been recorded.

The map highlights which areas of the nation have three or more confirmed cases of the virus and colour co-coordinates the areas by how many cases they have.

Daneshill and Little Basing is the current Covid hotspot in Basingstoke, with 643.8 people per 100,000 there testing positive in the most recent week.

However, the number of new cases has fallen by 22 per cent in the last week.

Currently, there are 42 Covid patients at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, as of November 2.

That number rose sharply at the start of July, but has remained relatively stable since the start of October.

The Trust was caring for 249 Covid patients at its peak in January.

The trust, which runs Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover hospitals, admitted three Covid patients on October 31, the most recent day with statistics available, and has seven patients on a ventilator, as of November 2.

In Basingstoke and Deane, 78.6 per cent of people aged 12 and above have had two doses of a Covid vaccine, as of October 23.

First doses have been given to 84.4 per cent of people aged 12 and above in the borough.

And in the week to November 8, there were no deaths within 28 days of a positive case in Basingstoke and Deane.

The total number of Covid deaths in the borough stands at 300 - whilst the number of deaths with Covid-19 listed on the death certificate stands at 342, as of October 22.
