A POPULAR Greek restaurant has officially taken over as official caterers at Basingstoke Sports and Social Club.

Family-run business Greek Street has gone from strength to strength since it opened its first restaurant and takeaway in Chineham last year.

Looking for opportunities to expand, owner Suzanna Collings told the Gazette she is excited to be able host bigger events and parties.

The 46-year-old mother-of-three from Winklebury said: “It’s a crazy ris, but this is such a nice place. We are already nearly fully booked till Christmas!

“[The past year] has been really unbelievable, it’s gone boom! I had done festivals here before and it was really tricky but this has gone so well. We have amazing customers.”

Speaking about the business’s new challenge at its second site, she continued: “I always wanted a little pub so I can do parties, that’s what I love to do. So having this, it feels like home and we can do traditional nights and full meals. Chineham is more takeaway still, because that’s how we started, even though people can now sit and eat indoors.”

Steve Reyner, Chairman of the club, added: “We did a survey during lockdown and the members said one of the issues was the kitchen, so we went out and interviewed three companies.

“Lots of our members already used Suzanna’s restaurant which we didn’t realise, and now they can enjoy the food here in the restaurant with the bar.”

Suzanna said she has an amazing team, adding: “I wouldn’t be able to do it without my family.”
