A BASINGSTOKE man is accused of assaulting two people.

Leon Davies, of Attwood Close, is charged with assaulting the man and woman on two separate occasions

It is claimed he assaulted them on April 14 and September 18.

The 23-year-old has been released on conditional bail pending the next hearing on November 8.

He must not contact the complainants, and must not enter an address on Sycamore Tree Road in Oakley.

Davies must also live and sleep each night at his home address and report to Basingstoke police station between 10am and 4pm on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays.

A POPLEY man has been given a suspended sentence after he admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour against three people.

Barry Charles Thomas, of Tortuga Way, intended to cause the two women and one man harassment, alarm or distress in the two incidents on January and March this year, Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court heard last week.

The court gave him a three week jail sentence, suspended for 12 months, for each offence, to be served consecutively.

Magistrates said the offences were so serious because of the 55-year-old’s long history of offending, and that these offences were committed whilst subject to a community order.

Whilst on the suspended sentence, Thomas must almost take part in 25 rehabilitation days, and must pay £30 in court costs and a £128 victim surcharge.

POLICE will continue to hold more than £40,000 in cash seized from an address in Beggarwood last year.

Officers conducted the dawn raid on the address in Britannia Drive on November 12 and found £40,360, allegedly belonging to Julius Elie.

Hampshire Constabulary applied to West Hampshire Magistrates’ Court last week for a further order under the Proceeds of Crime Act to continue detaining the cash whilst they ascertain its origin, which was granted.

A TADLEY woman will appear before court next week charged with dangerous driving.

Alanna Diane Quigley, of Otterbourne Crescent, has been charged with dangerous driving on Aldermaston Road, Churchill Way West, Ringway West and Ringway North.

She is accused of the offences whilst behind the wheel of a Seat on October 20, 2019, and was allegedly more than triple the drink drive limit and without insurance.

Quigley is further accused of assaulting a volunteer police officer on the same day.

The 38-year-old’s case has been adjourned until November 4. No pleas have been entered at this stage.

A MAN caught drug driving in Basingstoke has been banned from getting behind the wheel.

Samuel Joseph Ayres, of Winchester Road, admitted being behind the wheel of an Audi A3 whilst having THC, a breakdown product of cannabis, in his blood, on December 17, 2020.

He was caught on Buckland Avenue in South Ham.

The 33-year-old was fined £120 and banned from driving for a year.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £45.

Ayres was fined a further £40 after he admitted failing to surrender to Aldershot Magistrates’ Court in September.
