After the recent round of Team Handicap matches, it was back to the league format this week.

Winterslow added another ten points to their tally to put them back on top of Division One, their latest opponents being Hanson A. Philip and Tacey may be languishing at the foot of the table, but Nick George showed his fellow team members the way with a wonderful hat-trick of wins over Hanson B. Their three points might well have been four if they could have held onto the two sets lead in the doubles. As it was, the Hanson boys took the final sets, 11-6, 11-8, 11-8. Another successful player was Trevor Whitelock, for Wolversdene A.

Facing the young Underdogs side, he made his experience count as he was taken to a fourth set in all three games. Game of the match came from Shaun Carver and Brian Dyke. Two sets all and 1-5 down in the fifth, the big man was then at 4-8 with defeat staring him in the face. At 9-10, with nerves beginning to affect both players, Dyke retrieved a wide backhand and managed to get back to 10-10. 11-10 up and Carver hit off the table. Game to Brian Dyke. With another close win in the doubles, Wolversdene won the match 6-4.

Craig Gadd, for Hanson E, has promised much without quite showing his full potential this season. That changed as he took all three against the Ladies A side. Marie Dyke can be a difficult player to better, but the young player won it 3-1. He had a similar scoreline over Emma Boswell, while Adam Stanforth proved less of a problem, winning in straight sets.

Despite his efforts, the Ladies took the match 6-4. Lionel Whyton and Mick Folliard were both undefeated against the lads of Depot A, but Kenneth Gates, and Michael and James Todd were too strong for Hanson's Roy Horner. They followed that up with a doubles win to restrict Hanson D to a 6-4 win. DE and S pushed themselves back into second place with a strong 8-2 victory over Test Valley E. Three there for Paul Warran.

Ray Lockington enjoyed a good week as he won five out of six games for his Test Valley D side. His double hat-trick was denied by the fast improving Ollie Baxter of Test Valley. With Ollie two sets to one up, the fourth set was a real marathon affair with both players having good chances to clinch it.

With Baxter 19-18 up, his next shot caught the top of the net and dropped over to give him the game. Two from Adam Baxter, plus another from James Percival, gave the C team a 6-4 victory.

Lockington's other opponents was the School's B side who ran out winners 7-3. The two Ladies sides played each other and although Sue Shepherd enjoyed a great evening with all three, her team members failed to capitalise on this and lost 3-7. South Wonston B found Depot B a vastly improved side after their previous encounter at the start of the season. The score then was 10-0, but this time they were restricted to a 7-3 win, with Craig Johnston unbeaten for the village team.
