OCTOBER half-term is here, and if, like many, you're struggling to find ways to keep the children entertained throughout the week, the Basingstoke Gazette have five fun local ideas that are easy on the pocket.

Whether you prefer to sit on the sidelines or get involved and, secretly, have more fun than the little ones, half-term doesn't have to be doom and gloom for the adults, with plenty of activities for the family to get involved in.

With Christmas just around the corner, finding activities that last a week without going over budget can be challenging, however, below are five fun ideas that are easy on the pocket.

Basingstoke skate park

Free to use, three new parks have been built in Basingstoke this year, with equipment and circuits including a skate park, pump tracks and parkour tracks. The parks are located at War Memorial Park, Beggarwood Park and Popley Community Park.

At Beggarwood Park, new equipment has been added to extend the play area, including swings and climbing frames for children aged 12 and up. A pump track has also been added to the park, with rollers, berms and jumps suitable for BMX bikes, skateboards, roller blades, scooters and mountain bikes.

The Street Bakeshop

Based in Old Basing, The Street Bakeshop offers some of the finest pastries, hot drinks and sandwiches on the patch. All made in-house by baker and owner, Tim Goodwin.

Behind the counter, you will find crafted sourdough breads, pastries and cakes, hot smoked beef brisket or pork belly for lunch, as well as a selection of hot toasties.

The Street Bakeshop is open Tuesday - Sunday from 8.00am - 4.00pm.

Atmosphere Trampoline Park

Suitable for all ages, Atmosphere Trampoline Park is perfect for family days out at a low price. Open from 9.30am - 6.00pm with a price of £7.95 for a mini jump and £8.95 for an open jump, Atmosphere also has a cafe for those who have worked up an appetite. Mini jumps are suitable for children four and below, while an open jump is suitable for those five and above.

There is also a cafe for those working up an appetite.

Atmosphere Trampoline Park is located at Thornhill Road, Basset, SO16 7AY.

Skizone

For snowboarding and skiing adventures this half-term, Snozone in Basingstoke offer a wide range of lesson options for all ages and abilities from beginners to professionals.

While open times differ depending on the day, Skizone is open every day of the week and offer experiences from lift passes, ski lessons, snowboard lessons, family fun and disability snowsports.
