ONE PERSON has been arrested after immigration enforcement officers carried out a raid at an address in Basingstoke town centre yesterday afternoon.
A Home Office immigration enforcement van was spotted on Flaxfield Road shortly before 4pm on Sunday (October 24).
Immigration enforcement officers raided the address and made one arrest, with the Home Office saying that the individual will be managed according to immigration rules.
Hampshire Constabulary told The Gazette that immigration enforcement officers were carrying out an operation, but had no further details.
A Home Office spokesperson said: "The government is tackling illegal immigration and the harm it causes, often to the most vulnerable people, by removing those with no right to be in the UK.
“We continue to work with law enforcement agencies to tackle illegal migration in all its forms. Our New Plan for Immigration will speed up the removal of those who have entered the UK illegally.”
