A Botley man has appeared in court in connection with the fatal stabbing of his housemate
Eugen Coman, 33, is alleged to have fatally stabbed 31-year-old Leonid Laboshin at a house in Pinnocks Way, Botley, on Sunday night.
The software engineer, a Russian national, died at the scene.
Coman is also accused of being in possession of two knives, allegedly found in the boot of his BMW in Barrington Close, Witney, on the same date as Mr Laboshin’s death.
Wearing a fluorescent yellow and green boiler suit and appearing in court via video link from Bullingdon prison, shaven-headed Coman, of Pinnocks Way, Oxford, repeatedly interrupted the hearing.
He thanked the court as he was told by Judge Ian Pringle QC he would be remanded in custody until a plea hearing on Friday, January 14.
A provisional trial date was set for April 4 next year. The trial is expected to last up to a fortnight.
Judge Pringle told Coman: “I’m going to adjourn your case until Friday, January 14, when your team will have served a defence statement and we can look at further directions for your trial, which is currently due on April 4. In the meantime you must remain in custody.”
The Crown Prosecution Service was represented by Jonathan Stone. Brid Eve appeared for Coman.
