THE BASINGSTOKE Bison will be out for quick revenge today (6.30pm) when the Raiders come to town, writes Graham Merry.

Last Sunday in Romford the Herd were narrowly beaten 6-5 by the Raiders.

The game saw Bison player/coach Ashley Tait dismissed on a match penalty for slew footing at 31:28, with his side leading by a goal at the time.

This was after the Bison had won the opening period 3-2 thanks to a Zack Milton powerplay strike, Tait’s shorthanded marker and a goal from Alex Roberts. The home side scored through Jake Sylvester and Erik Piatak.

Aidan Doughty extended the lead, before Aaron Connolly pulled one back.

At this point Tait was dismissed. The Bison killed off the five minute powerplay and then their man of the match Milton made it 5-3 at the second break.

However, goals from Connolly and a brace from man of the match Piatak made sure of the Raiders victory.

Talking about the game, Tait said: “I felt the match penalty was harsh and did not warrant the call. We will be appealing.”

If the Bison appeal against the match penalty fails then Tait could be suspended for up to three matches, hence why the Herd are keen to overturn the call.

On Sunday night (6pm), the Herd travel to reigning league champions the Telford Tigers, where they will be looking to repeat their Autumn Cup victory in Shropshire last month.

Meanwhile in Basingstoke on Sunday, the Buffalo entertain the Cardiff Fire from 6.30pm and before this game the under-10 Bison are in action from 4.30pm against Oxford, Solent and Swindon.
