A man was found hiding inside his partner’s wardrobe – just two weeks after the woman’s house was closed by order of the magistrates.

Jermaine Jones, 39, had been invited into the Coltsfoot Square, Oxford, house by his partner. He was discovered by police officers on October 20 conducting a routine welfare check.

On October 6, magistrates had imposed a partial closure order on the house banning everyone expect the occupant, emergency services and council staff and another named individual from going to the house.

Appearing before Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, Jones, of James Street, Oxford, pleaded guilty to entering a premises in breach of a closure order.

His plea put him in breach of a 12 week suspended sentence order imposed last month for an assault.

Dana Bilan, mitigating, said her client was in the house on the invitation of his partner, the occupant, although he accepted that was not an excuse for breaching the closure order.

Jones was fined £50, ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and must do another 20 hours of unpaid work for breaching his suspended sentence.
