A MAN has been charged by police following the murder of a woman in Alton last Sunday and is appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court today.
Matthew Paul Reynolds, 31, of Pound Gate, Alton, has been charged with the woman’s murder, after she was stabbed to death on Sunday, October 10.
The 47-year-old woman’s body was found at an address in Aldersey Fields in Alton after police were called there at 1.52pm on Sunday.
A post-mortem carried out on Monday found she had died from a fatal stab wound.
Mr Reynolds, who has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court this morning, has also been charged with a robbery at Holybourne Post Office, in Alton, which happened three days earlier on Thursday, October 7.
