AN AFRICAN grey parrot that disappeared from a home in Basingstoke has been found dead near where she was last spotted.

Eight-year-old Bibi was found dead nestled in the ivy and lying on the floor near Cranbourne School on Winchester Road.

The Gazette had earlier published the story of her owner Lesley Herbert, who was appealing for help in finding the missing Bibi.

A heartbroken Lesley told the Gazette: “I have just found Bibi, sadly she didn’t make it. She was very close to where she was first seen, nestled in the ivy on the floor.”

Bibi flew away from her home on Winchester Road last Sunday, October 10.

She was immediately spotted in the trees that line Cranbourne School at approximately 4pm on the same day.

However, Bibi flew away from the dense trees, and she was not seen since.

Bibi has been with Lesley for nearly two years after she got her from a rescue home.

This was the first time she flew away from their home.

“This is our new home and we have been living here for only two weeks,” she said.

“She was flying around in the room. When I went to put her back in her cage, she took off to fly over my shoulder. But then she flew to the dining room and out through the backdoor.

“The trees she flew into were very dense. And we couldn’t see where she went because it was getting dark. We haven’t seen her since.”
