A BASINGSTOKE music club will host a charity gig this weekend to raise money for Brain Tumour Research.

Basingstoke Blues Club are hosting Lisbon-based band Starlite Campbell Band, which features Christian Madden, a Hammond organ player for Oasis star Liam Gallagher. The band is led by husband and wife Simon Campbell and Suzy Starlite, and also features Steve Gibson on drums.

Basingstoke Blues Club was founded in 1991 by now 73-year-old Rex Everett, who has been organising charity gigs in aid of Brain Tumour Research since his partner of 30 years, Allyson, passed away in 2009.

"We raised money up until when she passed away for numerous charities," he told The Gazette. "Brain Tumour Research doesn't get any government handouts. It is all given from people."

Doors open at 7.30pm at the Railway Club on Saturday, October 16.

"We haven't got members," Rex continued. "Once they come through the doors, if they come a second time, they are a member."
