AFTER two months being in and around Basingstoke, the Hampshire Hogs herd will be sold in a charity auction next week.

The auction is aimed at raising funds for a range of charities – local and national – chosen by the sponsor of each individual Hog.

The event will be held at Festival Place on Thursday, October 21.

The auction is being run by Andrew Smith and Son, on behalf of Destination Basingstoke.

Felicity Edwards, representing Destination Basingstoke, said: “Now that the trail is over, it is a chance for anyone to give a good home to one of our beautiful Hogs, now you can own an unusual work of art and make a contribution to an important charity.

“Our Hogs are house trained and are happy to stand quietly in any corner and be admired by all for years to come.”

Bids can be made online and in advance, or on the night at Festival Place, but bidders are recommended to register to bid in advance to save time on the evening.

You can view the full auction catalogue on the Hampshire Hogs website.

Festival Place director Neil Churchill said: "The spectacular Hampshire Hogs trail was fantastic to see around Festival Place and the town in general.

“We are delighted to host the auction of the hogs, which will provide much-need support to charities that have been hit hard by the pandemic.”

The auction will take place at the unit next to Skechers on the Upper Mall. Doors will open for registration and preview from 5.30pm.

In addition, members of the public and prospective buyers can view the Hogs on Tuesday October 19, from 10am to 7pm.
