THE council are supporting a range of creative and spooky activities in the town centre, which are available this month for everyone to enjoy.

Pop up play sessions, art and crafts workshops and a Halloween trail are just some of the activities on offer.

Throughout October, Love Basingstoke is working with local venues and organisations on a bumper programme of live music, the return of the Borough Basket Street Market and family fun during the half term break.

Head to the town centre every weekend for the return of live music as well as live performances at The Haymarket, The Anvil and Proteus Theatre Company.

From October 25 to the 29 Rangoli arts workshops will host pop up sessions with local artists Rachel David and Jacky Purtill.

For adults, the Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner’s team will be on hand to answer your questions during a free bike security event where you will be able to get your bike marked for free on Wednesday, October 27 at the Top of the Town.

Getting in the Halloween spirit, there is plenty of spooktacular fun with Junk Jodie and local artist Louise Hight, lantern making with Sarah Thomas Lane and Becky Kitter and a ghoulish Halloween trail around the town centre.

At The Malls, activities include arts and crafts such as pumpkin wands and a special walkabout from Frankenstein and his bride on Halloween.

On October 30 and 31 at Festival Place activities include perking up a pumpkin.

The programme of activities is supported by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, the government’s Welcome Back Fund, Arts Council England, Without Walls and Hampshire Cultural Trust.

Cllr Simon Bound, cabinet member for communities, planning and infrastructure, said: “We are delighted to bring residents and visitors a spooktacular range of free activities to enjoy this half term as well as a host of more entertainment for all ages across the town centre.

“Please come along and join in the fun as there really is something for everyone, from arts and crafts, workshops and much more to get in the Halloween spirit as well as a fantastic range of community-led events to celebrate the diversity of the borough during Black History Month and Diwali.”

The popular Borough Basket Street Market returns to the Top of the Town on Friday, October 29.
