Four people have been taken to hospital following a multi-vehicle accident in Basingstoke last weekend (Saturday).

Aldermaston Road was closed between Stokes Lane and Cranes Road for hours due to the accident near Sherborne St John.

According to police, three vehicles were involved in the accident - a Hyundai Tucson, black Jaguar F-Pace and a Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 AMG line.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary told the Gazette: "Officers were called at 1pm today (October 9), to a report of a three vehicle collision on Aldermaston Road at the junction of Elm Road in Sherborne St John involving a beige Hyundai Tucson, black Jaguar F-Pace and a Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 AMG line.

"The ambulance service attended and according to our logs two people have been reported as injured.

Later, a spokesperson for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that four people were taken to hospital following the accident.

The spokesperson said: "HIWFRS crews from Basingstoke attended the incident. The road traffic collision involved three vehicles, three casualties self extricated and one was extricated by HIWFRS crews. They were then taken into the care of SCAS. 

"The stop message came in at 13:47."

Stagecoach also stopped its service through this area as they were unable to run buses past the hospital while emergency services are in attendance.

Police have issued an appeal for people who witnessed the crash.

"We are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or was using this road and has any information or dash-cam footage to call 101 quoting 1030 of today’s date."
