A BASINGSTOKE man has been charged with wounding with intent following a serious assault in the town early this month.

Aiden Riley, 32, of Haydn Road in Basingstoke has been charged for causing a head injury to a 30-year-old man.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The incident happened at 12.02am on Saturday, September 18 on Haydn Road.

Riley has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court today (Thursday, September 30).

A spokesperson for the Hampshire Constabulary said: "Officers investigating a serious assault in Basingstoke have charged a man.

“Aiden Riley, 32, of Haydn Road, Basingstoke, has been charged with wounding with intent.

“It comes after officers were called at 12.02am on Saturday 18 September to reports of a serious assault on Haydn Road.

“A man in his 30s suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital for treatment.”
