THE BP station at Viables in Basingstoke currently has no petrol and is one of the BP stations to close due to on going driver shortages.

There are currently queues acorss Basingstoke petrol stations as motorists have been heading to the pumps amid driver shortages.

It comes after BP said it is reducing petrol and diesel deliveries to its own forecourts due to HGV driver shortages.

BP said a “handful” of its filling stations are closed due to a lack of fuel available, while Esso owner ExxonMobil also said a “small number” of its Tesco Alliance petrol forecourts have been impacted.

As well as the BP petrol station being shut in Grove Road there are currently queues at Tesco in Chineham, where staff are directing traffic. Meanwhile at Morrisons in Basingstoke traffic is queuing back onto the roundabout and towards the ring road.

Drivers are being urged by the Government to “buy fuel as normal”, after the lorry driver shortage hit supplies.

A Government spokeswoman said: “There is no shortage of fuel in the UK, and people should continue to buy fuel as normal."
