A RESIDENTIAL street in Old Basing has experienced a 'mini power cut' this afternoon, causing frustration amongst occupants.

Homes on Cavalier Close were affected by the 'temporary interruption' to power on Friday afternoon (August 27) as part of the provider's 'safety measures'.

Terry McAnish, who lives on the road, described the outage as a 'mini power cut' and said it had been happening sporadically for around two to three weeks.

"I've just had to reset all my CCTV, my computer, and my TV," he said.

"It's not so important to me, because I can reset everything, but we have a lot of new old age pensioners on Cavalier Close it may interfere with any equipment they have an be much more difficult for them."

In response, an SSEN spokesperson told the Gazette: "Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) is aware of a short interruption to supplies in Cavalier Road today at 15:22.

"This is due to the our system identifying the possibility of an issue on the network which could lead to a longer power outage. To ensure safety, the system then cuts supplies for anything from a few seconds up to three minutes, as it works to switch the affected power supply to another area of the network.

"While we understand that this may seem like a short power cut, it’s a part of the network infrastructure working to prevent further disruption to our customers, and we apologise for any inconvenience this temporary interruption may have caused."

The spokesperson added that no further recent power cuts in the area have been reported to them.
