A BASINGSTOKE man accused of sexually assaulting an intoxicated woman is said to have a ‘nature’ of being ‘overly flirtatious and sexual’ when drunk, a court has heard.

Alexander Hicken, 23, is said to have abused the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, following a family friend’s party on August 11, 2019.

During the party, after drinking Lambrini and eating vodka jelly shots, the complainant is said to have thrown up several times and had to be put to bed.

The woman said that she remembered Hicken, of Loggon Road in Viables, sat on the edge of her bed, rubbing her thigh and bum.

It is said that the gymnastic coach, was told to leave her room on two separate occasions and he left to go to the The Angel pub with others.

But the complainant states that after Hicken returned from the pub he allegedly sexually touched and kissed her and he is also accused of touching her again later that morning before he left for work.

She described feeling “very sick" everytime moved she moved her head and alleged: "He was trying to kiss me and tuck his tongue in my mouth. I told him to stop."

The court heard on Tuesday, August 24, how the alleged victim had struggled with “repeated nightmares” every night for months.

Giving evidence today, she said: “It doesn’t matter who is doing it to you it is a fight or flight situation. I was scared to say anything. I didn’t want to shout out.

“Its not a nice situation for anyone to be in. I asked him to stop multiple times.”

“[I] have had repeated nightmares, for a few months, it was every night. They were the same every night. I wake up panicked and have to check that he is not in the room.”

During a cross examination, the jury heard how the alleged victim had changed the day after the attack.

A friend told the court: “[She was] very detached it was almost as if the person I was so used to being with every other day wasn’t there. It was almost as if it wasn’t her.”

Adding: “She felt uncomfortable, she didn’t want it, I know that for a fact. [She was] quite distressed in a way I’ve never seen her before. She normally takes stuff on the chin but this had really knocked her, so I knew something drastic had happened.”

A witness, who had been there the night of the party, said it was in Alexander’s “nature” when he is drunk to be “overly flirtatious and sexual”.

During the examination the witness also claimed to recall hearing Hicken say “I am going to f*** [the victim]” during the night out.

Hicken, of Loggon Road in Viables, has pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual assault on a female.

The trial continues.
