A BASINGSTOKE schoolgirl has created her very own Hampshire Hog from recycled materials, inspired by the popular summer trail around the town.

Ten-year-old Rebecca Newman, who attends Fairfields school, decided to get creative during the summer holidays, and produced her own miniature hog, naming it’Country Hog Take me Home'.

The art project was inspired by the Destination Basingstoke Hampshire Hogs trail, which sees 17 hog statues, designed by local artists, scattered across the town for residents and visitors to spot.

Rebecca’s proud mum, Sarah, shared the photograph of her daughter’s creation with the Gazette, adding: “Her artistic abilities are good, much better than mine!”
