A NEW food pantry service has opened its doors from its premises in Crown Heights in Basingstoke.

The aim of MCKS Food Pantry is to provide compassionate services to those in need. The charitable pantry provides affordable food, clothing and other supplies to low income or vulnerable families. It also provides schools with support for food, toiletries and sanitary supplies. A spokesperson for the organisation team said: "We have been amazed by the generosity of local people and companies who have been donating products for the food bank and the pantry. This enables us to help those who need it.

"However it is vital that the donations keep coming in,. We currently are in need of tinned products and sanitary supplies. Many of our customers are becoming regulars now and comment on the friendly service and the range of products available.

"We have both a food bank and Pantry membership. The Food Bank will help people who need emergency support, providing up to 3 days worth of food and essential items. We also have a Food Pantry Membership where people can register with the pantry for £3.50 a week which will provide them with approximately £20 worth of food."

Food is categorised into Gold, Silver & Bronze. Members can take three gold items and seven silver items in a weekly shop.

In addition, the pantry will provide bronze items such as fruit and vegetables and sanitary pads for free.

If you would like support or are interested in becoming a volunteer please do contact the Pantry manager on 01256 212020 or email info@mcksfoodpantry.com
