AN anticyclone near the Azores with a ridge of high pressure extending northeast to southern England is going to play a major role in what weather comes our way during the coming days.

Put in simple terms, this in general means a lot of dry weather can be expected during the forecast period. However, there is nearly always a fly in the ointment when it comes to predicting the weather as Atlantic low pressure systems will be jostling for pole position making it tricky to forecast too far ahead.

Putting a little more detail on what we can expect to be served up on the weather menu, I think much drier and somewhat warmer conditions are likely in our part of the world. But from time to time showery bursts of rain are possible, particularly if weather fronts lurking out to the north and west of the UK manage to temporarily break down the high pressure ridge.

Some of the precipitation may be heavy and perhaps thundery in nature if this weather scenario materialises.

Daily maximum temperatures may shoot up to about 24C or possibly more on the sunniest days after the clearance of overnight mist patches.

Overnight minimum temperatures will tumble to around 9C or 10C on the coldest nights.

Looking even further ahead to the following week, we may see a more summery spell develop across our shores, but this is not set in stone.
