• A MAN has been told to do unpaid work after he was convicted of assaulting a woman.

Rikki Donovan, of Highclere Court in Knaphill, Surrey, had initially denied assaulting the woman in Basingstoke on May 22, 2020, but was convicted by magistrates after a trial in June.

Appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court for sentencing on Monday, the 35-year-old was given a 12 month community order, which will see him take part in 20 rehabilitation activity days and 200 hours of unpaid work.

A restraining order preventing Donovan from contacting the victim was also put in place.

Donovan will have to pay £620 in costs, as well as a £95 victim surcharge, but no order for compensation was made to avoid inflaming the situation, court documents revealed.

  • A TEENAGER has been fined after she resisted a police officer.

Thalia Rose Knight, of Eastrop Way, resisted PC Matthew Sheppard whilst he was on duty in Basingstoke on June 21.

The 19-year-old, who pleaded guilty last week, was fined £120.

She must also pay compensation of £50 and costs of £40.

  • A MAN "wilfully obstructed" a police officer after he failed to co-operate with roadside alcohol and drug tests, a court has heard.

Sean Filer, of Sarisbury Close in Tadley, had been stopped by police on Winchester Road on August 3 when the offences occurred.

Officers had suspected him of driving whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and requested he did a roadside breath test and drugs wipe.

However, court documents reveal he refused without reasonable excuse.

He was also charged with obstructing Sergeant Butler in the execution of his duty, and driving a Ford Fiesta on Winchester Road whilst using a mobile phone.

In all, he pleaded guilty to five charges at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court last week.

The 39-year-old was fined a total of £260, and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £34 victim surcharge.

He was further banned from driving for 18 months.

  • A TADLEY man has been banned from holding a licence after he was caught drink and drug driving.

Liam Martin Bean, of Burnham Road, was behind the wheel of a Vauxhall Corsa on Ashford Hill on December 12, whilst over the drink drive limit.

A blood test revealed 117 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of his blood, over the legal limit of 80.

He also had Benzoylecgonine, a breakdown product of cocaine, in his system.

Appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Monday, the 20-year-old was given a 12 month community order after admitting both charges.

He must complete 25 days of rehabilitation activities, and has also received an 18 month driving ban.

Bean must pay costs of £85 and a £95 victim surcharge.

  • A MAN has been fined and banned from driving after he was caught behind the wheel whilst under the influence of ketamine.

Maximillian Harris, of Scures Road in Hook, was driving on Old Common Road in Basingstoke on December 17, whilst under the influence of the Class B drug.

The 30-year-old pleaded guilty to drug driving at a hearing in June.

Appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court last week for sentencing, Harris was fined £360 and banned from driving for three years.

He must also pay costs of £85 and a £36 victim surcharge.
