A BASINGSTOKE business has released CCTV footage which shows thieves breaking into a warehouse.

Director of Basingstoke Skip Hire and Southern Waste Management, Laurie Hughes, hopes sharing the video will help bring the offenders to justice.

The perpetrators managed to gain access to the warehouse site on Roentgen Road, Danes Hill at around 9.30pm on Saturday night, August 7.

The two thieves stole a total of £2,000 worth of property including Milwaukee battery guns, a Milwaukee drill body, Milwaukee batteries, Dewalt battery chargers and a green snap on a large pry bar.

Speaking to the Gazette, Laurie said: “It makes me feel very angry, the tools the mechanics actually supply themselves and they work hard and are expensive to buy. It’s not company property, its personal property to them. We can replace them, but it is not nice for the guys to know that someone has been through their personal belongings.

“I would say to the two people that did it, go and get your own job and provide for yourself you shouldn’t be stealing property from other people.”

Laurie has owned the business for 40 years and says the break in “hits that bit harder” when a business is family run like hers.

She is now asking the public to keep their eye out for anyone who might be selling any of the stolen items online.

A spokesperson for Hampshire constabulary told the Gazette: “We received a report on a burglary at a warehouse on Saturday 7 August between 9.35pm and 9.45pm on Roentgen Road, Basingstoke.

“It was reported that two people had entered into a workshop and a number of power tools were stolen.

“Were you in the area at the time? Did you see what happened or anyone acting suspiciously? Perhaps you have dash-cam footage.

“Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting 44210316344.”
