POLICE in Basingstoke have issued a warning to residents in rural areas of the borough following a "spate of thefts from vehicles".
Officers will be patrolling in Kingsclere, Woolton Hill and Dummer this afternoon (Monday, August 9) after receiving multiple theft reports in the areas last week.
Posting on social media, the team wrote: "Following a spate of theft from vehicles last week in the Kingsclere, Woolton Hill and Dummer area we'd like to remind the public not to leave valuables on display in your car.
"These opportunistic thieves are taking advantage of isolated rural car parks and wooded areas popular with walkers, typically during the day.
"The Basingstoke Rural Team will be out this afternoon patrolling these areas but would ask the public to look at what's on show in your car before you leave for your walk."
