POLICE have confirmed that they attended a block of flats in Basingstoke yesterday after concern for the welfare of a man.

Residents reported seeing police and ambulance arrive at Churchill Place at around 8pm last night, but said officers would not tell them what was happening.

They said police were there for at least two hours, with police vans, cars and an ambulance seen parked up outside, and around six police officers.

Hampshire Constabulary has now confirmed to the Gazette that officers attended an address in Churchill Way after “receiving a report of a concern for the welfare of a man”.

They added: “He was located.”
