A CATERER has been flooded with community support after “keyboard warriors” mocked her for selling a plate of sandwiches and sausage rolls for £15.

When food catering company Kate’s Bakes posted their latest food platter on the Facebook group, Burghfield and Mortimer Gossip, it was met with a “deluge of negativity”.

But members of the community were quick to rally round and flood the post with positivity to uplift the caterers spirits and block out the “soul destroying” negative comments.

Jennie Hull posted: “Keep going and do what makes you happy. Whatever you do, there will always be that handful of nasty people.”

The hateful comments become so bad that the page admin had to step in and delete the comments, writing: “I have removed all negative comments. Whilst your thoughts may be valid to you, when someone receives a deluge of negativity it can be soul destroying. Please remember that you are talking to a real person with feelings.”

Another supported, Maureen Woods, posted: “Keep going - if people don’t like what is on offer then they don’t have to buy. Looks good to me - all the best for the future.”

Tuula McClatchie said: “So much for be kind.” Katie Hubbard, the owner of Kate’s Bakes, replied to Tuula saying: “You know what it's starting to get me down, I listen to constructive criticism but hatred and pure nasty is something else and it's unfair quite frankly but hey I shall keep smiling and I’ll keep going.”

The post did however, drum up business for Kate’s Bakes, with customer Roger Aslam posting: “All the woman is trying to do is earn a wage probably for her family if you don’t want [a platter] move along! Nothing worse than someone knocking someone for trying to feed their kids! So on that basis I would like to order one please.”

Roger later posted a picture of his order on the community page adding: “Big thanks to Katie for my platter was meant to be £15 but I gave her a tip as it was huge! Highly recommended.”

Another member of the community, Ryan Bailey, said: “Some people should be ashamed of themselves. I’ve just seen what Roger Aslam got with his order loads of food and I’ll be placing an order or two over the summer when little man is off school. Do none of you people being rude have no shame?”
