BASINGSTOKE Household Waste Recycling Centre has been forced to close today after heavy rain caused flooding on the road outside the centre.
Wade Road has been flooded since early this morning causing drivers to take diversions.
A statement on the council website reads: “Basingstoke HWRC is temporarily closed due to flooding on Wade Road. Customers with appointments for Friday 18 June 2021 will be permitted access once the road is reopened and the water is cleared.
“Site staff will have record of appointments for Friday 18 June to confirm original appointments. Alternatively you can re-book another appointment online. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience.”
Drivers are being warned to take care in the area with one woman writing of Facebook: "It's deep, try at your own risk. Already seen two flooded engines. Use Stroudley Road instead."
