Businesses in Basingstoke are being urged to enter teams into a race later this year.

The Basingstoke Half Marathon and 10k are due to return in person for the first time since 2019 on October 3, after being held virtually last year.

Now, Destination Basingstoke, the organisation behind the event, are calling for workplaces to enter teams to the 10th anniversary race.

“Entering the Workplace Challenge isn’t just about race day, it is about building a team, training together, and putting staff health and wellbeing high on the agenda,” Jane Staff, from Destination Basingstoke, said.

“After a difficult year where running was often the only outlet, this is a chance to bring your team together in one great event.

“There is a trophy for the fastest team, but there is much more to it than speed.”

Teams need at least three members to compete, and is open to companies and businesses of all sizes.

Meanwhile, Jack Gardener, director of Phillips Solicitors, the race’s title sponsor, said: “Staff wellbeing has always been an important issue, but never has it been more crucial than now.

“Phillips have always enjoyed the team building and social side of training and running together, as well as the fabulous atmosphere on race day – this year we expect to have 50 in our team, and expect some strong competition from other businesses for the trophy!”
