Nine schools in Basingstoke have recorded new coronavirus cases.

Hampshire County Council publishes a full list of schools in the area which have reported positive coronavirus cases over the last 10-day period.

The website lists that nine schools have now reported at least one case of coronavirus.

If a school has further cases during the 10-day isolation period, their name remains on the list until the 10-day period from the most recently reported case has completed.

If a school has had no further cases during the 10-day isolation period, their name is deleted from the list.

Winklebury Infants School and St Mark’s primary school are the latest education facilities to be added to the list, both recording at least one case of coronavirus on Friday (June 11).

They join North Waltham Primary School, Priory Primary, Manor Field Infant School, Four Lanes Infant and Juniors School, Burnham Copse, and Bishop Challoner.

The seven schools remain open and the Hampshire County Council website states that in some cases, one or more bubbles will be required to self-isolate whilst in other situations there is no requirement for a bubble to isolate.

The County Council website shows that 25 schools across Hampshire have reported at least one positive case in the latest 10 day period, excluding Portsmouth and Southampton.

It means that Basingstoke has the highest number of schools with cases on the Hampshire County Council website.

Hart and Gosport have the second highest number of schools with positive cases, both areas have three schools on the list.

Basingstoke now has a rolling rate above the UK average at 41.9 with 74 cases recorded in the seven days to Jun 9, an increase of 131.2 per cent on the previous week.

Yesterday (June 14) a further 14 people tested positive for the virus bringing the total number of positive cases in the borough since the pandemic began to 8,416.
