DRIVERS have been warned to avoid a road in Basingstoke after a road traffic incident.

One motorist on the Hampshire Driver’s Facebook page warned drivers to take the M3 as a alternative route after a crash crashed on the A30 in Old Basing.

The crash which took place near Hatch Lane just before 7:30am this morning (June 2) has had an effect on traffic, with the AA live traffic map shows slow moving traffic in the surrounding area.

The driver who witnessed the crash said: “Accident on the A30 in Basingstoke by the hatch in old basing. Car is across the road, poor girl look very shook up when I drove past. Would advise people to use M3 if possible, could back up during rush hour.”

A spokesperson for Hampshire police told the Gazette: "We were called at 7.18am to reports of a two-vehicle collision on London Road in Old Basing, at the junction with Hatch Lane.

"Three people were reported as having minor injuries and went to hospital as a precaution."
