A DRIVER has received life changing injuries after a car flipped onto its side at Black Dam roundabout this morning.

Two cars were involved in the collision just after 8.15am on Tuesday, which saw a car overturn.

Police have reported that the driver of the overturned vehicle has received life changing injuries after the crash.

Meanwhile, South Central Ambulance Service said that they sent the critical care car from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, to treat a male in his 70s who was taken to Basingstoke hospital.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "We were called at 8.18am today (1 June) to reports of a collision at the Black Dam roundabout in Basingstoke.

"Two cars were involved in the collision. One collided with a lamppost and the other overturned, blocking the junction.

"The driver of the overturned vehicle is reported to have life changing injuries.

"Officers remain at the scene to assist the emergency response."

Meanwhile, a SCAS spokesperson said: "We were called at 08:17 to the A339 to a collision involving two vehicles.

"We sent to the scene an ambulance crew and the critical care car from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

"They were on scene assessing and treating one male in his 70s.

"Following assessment and treatment at the scene by our crews he was taken to North Hampshire Hospital."

Traffic was backing up in all directions after the crash, with traffic lights at the roundabout off earlier this morning.

It comes after two crashes on the M3 close to Black Dam roundabout blocked the motorway on Friday lunchtime.
