A driver miraculously walked away with minor injuries following a collision on M3 yesterday (Friday).

The accident occurred on the M3 southbound carriageway between junction 5 and 6.

However, it was a lucky escape for the driver who walked away with just minor injuries. The casualty was later checked over by ambulance paramedics.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service’s (HIWFRS) crew from Odiham, Hatley Wintney and Basingstoke stations provided scene safety.

A spokesperson for the firefighters said: “HIWFRS crews from Odiham, Hartley Wintney and Basingstoke fire stations were called at 12:27 to an RTC on the M3 southbound carriageway between junction 5 and 6.

“No persons were trapped and one casualty was checked over by ambulance paramedics, as HIWFRS firefighters provided scene safety.”

As the firefighters were leaving the scene at 12.47, they came across another collision on M3 involving two heavy goods vehicles (HGV) and another vehicle on the slip road of the northbound carriageway at junction 6.

The spokesperson added: “Once again no persons were trapped with HIWFRS providing scene safety before handing the incident over to Hampshire Police.

“Firefighters left the scene at 13:07.”

Following two quick incidents, the fire crew have issued a warning to public about road conditions.

In a tweet, Hatley Wintney Fire Station has asked road users to stay alert at all times as traffic and road conditions can suddenly change.
