A new image has been released that shows how Basingstoke Golf Course will be redeveloped into a 1,000-home housing estate soon.

The picture has been released by Boyer, a planning agency that supports developers Bloor Homes on the preparation and negotiation of outline planning permission for the site.

Besides the plan for 1,000 homes, the redevelopment will also see construction of a retail centre, a community building, a day nursery, sports facilities, open space and associated infrastructure.

A plan to redevelop the golf course into a housing estate first came to public light when Bloor Homes launched a public consultation in 2019, that drew much criticism.

It had plans for allocation of gypsy and traveller pitches at the site, which was objected by many residents.

However after changes, the Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council approved the outline planning application last year, paving way for one of the largest housing developments in Basingstoke.

Boyer, along with LRG, have been working with the landowner since 2011 to secure an allocation for 1,000 homes on this site.

LRG has been acting for the Golf Club since 2012 and negotiated the sale to Bloor Homes on behalf of Basingstoke Golf Club.

A Boyer spokesperson said: “Bloor Homes was selected as the development partner in 2018. Since then, Boyer has been working with Bloor Homes and has led on the preparation, submission and negotiation of the outline planning application, which was submitted in 2019.

“Boyer also prepared the Environmental Statement and negotiated the complex S106 agreement. To achieve all of this in under two years is a fantastic result for Boyer, LRG, Bloor Homes and Basingstoke Golf Club.

“This site is one of the largest developments in Basingstoke and is an important element of the Borough's housing land supply."

Boyer is now working with Bloor Homes on the preparation for the first phase Reserved Matters application, which will be submitted shortly before construction can commence.
