A CAMPERVAN fire spread to the roof space of a nearby home in Beggarwood in the early hours of this morning (Thursday, April 22).

Crews from Basingstoke, Eastleigh, Odiham and Overton were called to Old Beggarwood Lane at 3.43am and found a campervan well-alight.

The fire had spread to an adjacent three-storey property and was extinguished using 12 breathing apparatus, three main jets and two hose reel jets.

Basingstoke’s aerial ladder platform was used to inspect the roof space.

A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson confirmed that everyone inside was accounted for.

The stop message was received at 5:30am and the cause of the fire will now be investigated.

The Gazette has contacted Hampshire Constabulary for comment.
