A man has appeared in court accused of attempting to rob two people in Basingstoke.

Robert McCracken, of Lambert Avenue in Richmond, London, is said to have committed the offences in the town in October last year.

The 20-year-old is also accused with threatening violence towards others, and assaulting two police officers, in the town on the same day.

He is further charged with assaulting another police officer in Basingstoke on April 14.

The case has been sent to Winchester Crown Court, where he will appear on May 7.

He has been released on conditional bail, and must not go to any pub, club, off licence or beer garden where alcohol is served, and to live at his address in Richmond.

A teenager who was found in possession of cannabis in Basingstoke has been conditionally discharged.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was found in possession of just under 8 grams of the Class B drug in September 2020.

The 17-year-old was ordered to pay total court costs of £100, and conditionally discharged for a year.

A man has been accused of beating two police officers in Basingstoke last month.

Macari Fullard, of Kenly Place in Farnborough, indicated pleas of guilty to the two charges when appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court in March.

The case had been adjourned to Monday, and was adjourned again.

He will next appear before court on April 29, via a live video link.

He has been released on unconditional bail.

A man from Old Basing has been fined after being found in possession of two Class A drugs last year.

Justin Graham-Greene, of Chalk Vale, was found in possession of crack cocaine and heroin in Basingstoke on January 24, 2020.

He was fined £120 on each count, and asked to pay a £32 victim surcharge, after admitting the charges at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court last Thursday.

A Winchfield man has been given an absolute discharge after admitting driving a motorbike without insurance.

Stuart Albert James Hooper-Smith, of Shapley Hill in Winchfield, was on his Royal Enfield motorcycle on the B3349 near the A30 in Hook on June 12, 2020, when he was not insured.

The 52-year-old pleaded guilty via the single justice procedure in October last year.

But in a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Hooper-Smith was given an absolute discharge.

This means that the court felt that no punishment, other than the conviction against his name, was necessary.

A Hampshire man has been banned from driving for three years after he was found to be under the influence of cocaine whilst driving.

Russell James Edward Lace was behind the wheel of his vehicle on the M3 in Basingstoke on November 20, 2020, when benzoylecgonine was found in his system - a breakdown product of cocaine.

The 34-year-old was fined £440 and banned from driving for three years at a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court last Thursday.

Lace, of Millbrook Drive in Havant, was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £44 victim surcharge.
