WITH lockdown restrictions easing, and overseas holidays looking unlikely, it is the perfect time to explore the best sights in Hampshire.

Spring is well underway and flower displays are beginning to bloom, filling fields with vibrant colours and scrumptious scents.

Popular Hampshire spots such as Mottisfont are always winners when it comes to flower displays that will dazzle in photographs, but there are many lesser-known areas that are guaranteed to be covered in vibrant flowers this spring and summer.

Here are six of the best flower fields in Hampshire, where flowers seem to bloom all around you as far as the eye can see:

Steve Harris' Sunflowers

August is the perfect month for a bright yellow Instagram picture.

In summer the field is covered in triumphant yellow sunflowers that you can pick for a price.

The small third-generation family run farm has been described as ‘part of the fabric’ of Titchfield Village for the last 86 years.

Bluebells at Micheldever Woods, Hampshire

The woods at Micheldever provide the perfect environment for Bluebells to thrive. The twisty paths through pine and conifers will lead you to a wonderful display of flowers during April and May.

As well as the wild flowers you may be able to spot fallow deer as well as many species of butterflies.

Lavender fields in Selborne, Alton

You can find the Lavender Fields, at Hartley Park Farm, right in the heart of the Hampshire countryside.

The fourth generation farmers, introduced English lavender back in 1999, and their field is now a local landmark.

Set against the ancient trees of the Selborne Hanger, the vibrant field of English lavender perfectly compliments the dense, dark woodland.

Overton poppy field

This North Hampshire beauty spot is covered in a sea of red during the summer months, making a perfect spot for photographers to snap a picture from a distance.

Sadly last year, the poppy field was forced to close, after "irreversible damage" had been done to the fields by a small selection of the community who ignored signs telling them not to walk in the field.

Mottisfont rose garden

There are so many beautiful rose gardens in the UK, but Mottisfont has to be up there with the best.

The scent of the pre-1900 old-fashioned roses wafts through walled gardens when they reach their peak bloom in early summer.

Unlike modern species, old-fashioned roses tend to flower just once a year, so their blooming season is an extraordinary annual sight.

New Forest Lavender Farm

Unfortunately, due to extreme weather conditions during the 2019-20 the Lavender field was lost.

But in a mighty come back the farm replanted the gardens with a more varied range of trees, shrubs, perennials, lavender and annual flowers to create a longer and more seasonal interest to visitors.

It remains a beautiful place to visit.
