FESTIVAL Place has marked Acute Myeloid Leukaemia Awareness Week by lighting up its tower orange for a week.

The shopping centre has joined businesses across the country and world in a campaign raising awareness of the condition on behalf of the family of eight-month-old Azaylia Diamond Cain, daughter of footballer Ashley Cain, who is currently fighting an aggressive form of leukaemia.

The ex-Coventry City player and partner Safiyya Vorajee have been told Azaylia's brain tumour cannot be treated.

Posting on Twitter, 'Basingstoke's Heritage Captured' wrote: "Thank you Festival Place, #Basingstoke for lighting up your iconic tower orange for 1 week to support all of the brave children who are suffering from Acute Myeloid Leukaemia."

The orange lights began on Monday, April 19, and will remain in place throughout the week.
