The fastest and slowest places for house sales in the Basingstoke area have been revealed.

House buying firm Property Solvers have launched a new speed of sale tool that reveals houses in Basingstoke generally take around four months to sell.

Comparing the 10 RG postcodes in the Basingstoke area, it reveals that Hook (RG27) is the fastest selling market over the last year, with sales taking on average 104 days.

Meanwhile, nearby Odiham (RG29) is the slowest, with houses taking just over two weeks longer to sell.

The RG24 area of Basingstoke town itself, which includes Popley, Rooksdown, Chineham, Lychpit and Old Basing, is the fastest selling area, with houses selling in 113 on average between April 2020 and April 2021.

It analysed thousands of house sales across the region and track the moment a property is listed on Rightmove to the point it is marked as sold at the HM Land Registry.

Across Hampshire, Emsworth (PO10) was the fastest area for property sales, with average sales taking 68 days.

On the other end of the scale, the SO45 area of Southampton was the slowest, taking 129 days to sell.

Property Solvers co-founder, Ruban Selvanayagam, said: “Despite the broad level of inactivity under the first COVID-19 lockdown, the estate agency industry has recovered relatively quickly.

“Whilst buyer demand certainly hasn’t waned as many predicted, the time for house transactions to complete has certainly lengthened.

“Many solicitors, mortgage brokers and other professionals in our sector have been working from home which has often resulted in further administrative and other operational delays."

He continued: "However, with restrictions gradually being lifted, and more people returning to office, the property buying and selling process should hopefully accelerate."

Nonetheless, Selvanayagam concluded, many of the processes remain slow and archaic, “an issue that’s likely to continue post-pandemic".
