It is potentially the most eagerly anticipated store or restaurant to come to Basingstoke in many years.

But mystery still surrounds when a new BrewDog bar will be opening in the town.

It was announced last October that the Scottish brewery would open a new bar in the town, and the location of the new venue is also unknown.

It hasn't stopped residents on social media speculating on where it could feature, with the Top of Town being a much-fancied destination.

BrewDog founder James Watt made the announcement on Twitter, stating it was "a crazy time to be expanding".

He announced 20 locations for new bars, which also include facilities in Plymouth, Exeter, Chelmsford and Bath as well as further afield such as Shanghai, Paris, Mumbai and Bangalore.

James added on Twitter: "These bars will all be carbon negative and will create over 400 new jobs at a time when job creation is badly needed all over the world."

However, talk of BrewDog's entry to Basingstoke hasn't been completely quiet, after the craft beer firm won a 'World Cup of Concept Kits' competition held by the town's football team earlier this month.

Basingstoke Town FC generated concept kits on a number of big name sponsors from BrewDog to Burberry and Game to Fyffes.

It was the kit with the Scottish firm's name on it, which featured patterns of different shades of blue and white, that reigned supreme in the final, with 74 per cent of the club's fans voting in favour of the kit in the final.

It saw the brewery tease fans by Tweeting: "BrewDog BTFC kits coming soon?"
