A NATIONAL child protection charity has said that an ex-Basingstoke teacher 'poses an significant threat' after he was convicted of child abuse.

Julius Edwards, who once worked for Dove House School Academy on Sutton Road, was found guilty of sexually abusing two young boys after a three-week trial at Kingston Crown Court.

The 49-year-old, who changed his name by deed poll to James Edward Ramsay, was charged with the offences, which took place last year.

Ramsay was a teacher at the Dove House School in Basingstoke at the time of his arrest but neither of the victims were pupils at the school.

Now, the NSPCC has voiced its support for the young people affected, and urged anyone experiencing abuse to seek help.

An NSPCC spokesperson said: “The survivors of Edwards’ abuse have been enormously brave in speaking out, and we hope they get the support they need to move forward with their lives.

"It is clear that Edwards poses a significant threat to children."

They added: “We would encourage anyone who has experienced abuse, no matter when it happened, to speak out and seek support.”
