A COVID vaccination centre in Basingstoke has reopened to administer second doses to hospital staff.

As previously reported, Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust (HHFT), which runs Basingstoke, Andover and Winchester hospitals began vaccinating staff on January 5 after receiving the Pfizer Covid vaccine.

It has since given the first dose of vaccine to 90 per cent of its workforce, operating the centre from The Ark Conference Centre.

A report for HHFT’s board of directors states that its focus now is to administer the second dose of the vaccine to staff.

The vaccine centre reopened on March 22 for hospital staff to receive their second dose.

The trust has around 6,000 members of staff, with priority for the vaccine given to those in the highest risk groups and roles, including frontline staff.

Previously, the trust was also asked to vaccinate additional groups of health and care staff after the first HHFT staff vaccinations were complete.
