Stagecoach has confirmed that today (Saturday) will be the final day of service for Centre Shuttle bus that has been axed by the Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

The shuttle bus service, which has been running for more than twenty years, connects Leisure Park to Rail Station.

It has been running Monday-Saturday, every half an hour during the pandemic, having previously run every 15 minutes.

Last week, the council had confirmed that the service would be ending by the end of March, after a raft of cuts got the green light as part of its 2021/22 budget.

The news was met with a lot of negative feedback from members of the public, with more than 100 people expressing their upset on the Gazette’s report.

Stage Coach has said alternative services are available between the Rail Station and Leisure Park. The 8 and 76 are the most direct bus services, but you may also use the 11.

At the Leisure Park, the nearest bus stops are located along Worting Road at Greenways, adjacent to The Hollywood Bowl.

The bus service group also said multi journey tickets and monthly season tickets are no longer available to purchase, but existing tickets will continue to be accepted until expiry, or end of the service.
