It comes as lockdown restrictions in England start to ease, with people set to be allowed to meet friends outdoors - abiding by the rule of six or two households - by the end of the month.

The statistics released by the NHS, which cover the period to March 4, 2021, also reveal the true scale of Hampshire's third spike.

At its peak, 249 people were being treated at HHFT, which runs the three hospitals in the north and mid of the county, compared to 148 during the first peak.

This third spike was felt between January 24-26.
