FIREFIGHTERS from Basingstoke and Odiham were called to a loft fire at Hampshire hotel this afternoon.

Crews were mobilised just after 1pm due to an automatic fire alarm at Tylney Hall in Rotherwick.

The teams extinguished the fire, located in the building's loft.

Insulation and ceiling joist was damaged by fire, which the firefighters say was caused by smoking materials.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Odiham and Basingstoke crews were called at 12:59 on Saturday 27th February to a small fire located in the loft space of a property in Rotherwick.

"On arrival crews found light smoke logging in the building used as a hotel complex before extinguishing the small fire using breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet. The stop message came in at 13:58."
